Black door nob

It's nap-time now
-----and my mommy makes me go

into my bedroom cleaned
-----so whitely-washed it glows.

As long as she is there with me
-----I'm ever safe from him

but when she leaves, I know she will,
-----kiss my cheek and then...

I lay and look around the room
-----afraid to fall asleep

and so I hold my eyes so wide
-----I'm sure that they will keep

the voice away, so far from me
-----and I'll remain awake

until my mom comes back for me
-----in time to keep me safe.

The room so white and crispy clean
-----no colors but the white

except the door my mommy's closed
-----that holds the thing of fright.

The door knob shines, he's polished clean
-----and glares against the white

crystal black and from within
-----the voice speaks, whispers quiet,

"Now little girl fall asleep and when you do
-----I'll grab you sure and then,

when 'Mom' comes back you will be gone,
-----trapped so tight within...

"my shiny cell, lost with me
-----you'll view your room from here...

from out my shiny prison wall
-----you'll see your Mommy there.

"And while you scream to let you out,
-----to save you from 'in' me,

Mommy's ears won't hear a sound,
-----she'll look but never see.

"you will be locked forever deep,
-----forever in my knob

you can scream and pound and shout
-----no one will hear your sobs."
